Also, woldn't the act of compiling to c as an intermediate step increase the compilation time? And wouldn't the compilation time be limited by the c compiler speed? I agree that compiling to c (or some other language) is an advantage, but as an option, not as a mandatory step. I don't think ALL programs would benefit from that intermediate representation, thats my point.
