Not sure if you need help to choose a linux distro, but if then I could 
recommend you because of several reasons Manjaro. And the IRC channel is really 
good. Your questions get answered, and the community is not too big that the 
IRC channel would require a split. If you prefer something like gitter, no 
problem it is merged with the irc channel. So no community split there.
