The stdlib embraces the GC. The GC is thread-local and supports running incrementally, meeting the deadlines you pass to it. Please use it before you decide you want to work around it, it's hardly comparable to C#'s or Java's. It's true that in the longer run we hope to have something better than a GC but we will drag the stdlib along so there is no reason to avoid it.
