@dom96

First and most important: I love Nim and consider it to be the (almost) perfect
language (that just needs a bit more growing up and mature).

> Nim is #1 on JSON and #14 on Plaintext.

So, evidently **you picked 1 favourable result.**

You find my "suggestions" ridiculous? It's sad to hear that from a central
figure in our Nim community. It's sad to see that attitude. And quite different
it seems to me than @Araq's always positive and constructive attitude; when
someone recently really criticized Nim Araq actually _asked_ for details and
reasons. He is a smart man and I have good reasons to value him highly.

I myself did actually not criticize, let alone belittle, Nim. My remarks were
and are focused on the _state_ of Nim (and the presumed reasons for that).

Where do you think the music plays today? I guess that being the author of
jester you know the answer. If a (relatively) new and unknown language managed
to be at or near the top in _multiple_ TE benchmark categories that would drive
droves of seriously interested developers to at least have a good look at Nim
and to probably at least play a bit with it.

On the other hand while being at the top in one (1) single test is enchanting
and reassuring because it shows the potential of Nim it is statistically
irrelevant and carries little psychological weight.

Finally one must also see the full equation. Nim (for most) is an unknown
language so it has to overcome the burden of "Hmm, but I would need to learn a
new (and quite different) language" along with some others like "It's quite new
and there are not (yet) all the tools, bells and whistles available". That can
hardly be achieved with 1 victory in 1 test. To compensate for that burden Nim
would need to be near the top in multiple - and relevant - categories.

> that's just "Nim doesn't have any presence there".

You might want to think about the relation of "no presence there" and "not much
presence in general".

Being a central figure in the Nimverse you might want to think about the weight
of your attitude. Gladly with Araq we have an excellent leader. I remember when
I say my first Nim talk (on youtube) which happened to be done by Araq. It
wasn't just the language, it also was the man who convinced.
