The reason I bring this up is that even choosing the All Files option in the Catalog _doesn't_ always work. It works with _some_ files, but usually I get a dialog saying that the correct XTND translator couldn't be found, and NW is "opening as best guess," which is invariably a window with a few lines of gibberish at the top. And sometimes NW just beeps after I press the Open button.

If memory serves, Mark Hurvitz at Nisus Software once said that originally NW had the ability to open anything, but it was somehow lost in later versions.

since Nisus/Nisus Writer
has always had this ability. The Show all Files optiion for the Catalog
window allows you to open any file on your hard disk.
