Thanks for you all your comments; now would those who use Nisus Email please check to see if they have the same appearance that I got at one stage [although as usually happens it has suddenly corrected itself. Nope wrong, back again.] With the insertion pointer [cursor] at the first character on a line, it is vertical as it should be for Plain text - AppleGaramond Lt 18 point in use. As soon as I type a character, the pointer becomes a forward slash pointing 45 degrees north-east. This does not sound so bad but selecting the correct place to make a correction, such as spelling error or to add a word, can be more than hit-and-miss. It's about 90% miss. Would some kind soul care to check this for me please? I have been in touch with the author and he has not found this in Word, AppleWorks or other applications. I cannot get it in OmniOutliner. He says the the font has nothing to do with this and I would agree. I do recall that sometimes in the past when using an Italic font, the same problem occurred - in NW too.
