Well, you may be overestimating what this feature is supposed to do. Believe it or not, there are users who simply don't want to be bothered with saving files, or habitually forget, and then complain later when they can't find the file or lose their data. The Document Manager is for them. If they decide a week later that they want to see what they wrote in a letter, they can look at the list and find it from the first few words.

Maybe Document Manager will evolve into something else in the future, but I don't know. If you have a good idea, suggest it.

OK. All this does is change Document Manager from an dubious "feature"
into a very undesirable one.

Creating a new document from the Document Manager, and then selecting
Save (or using cmnd-S) to save the document results in NW Ex saving the
files using the first few letters in the document. It does not prompt you
to name the file, or ask where you want to save the file, even if it the
the first time the document is being saved. This is not a good idea. On
the other hand, documents do appear in the list even of you save them to
a location of your own choosing, then use the Save in Document Manager
command. This function seems to be very poorly implemented, IHO.
