I think we have found a common time where we can all meet, Friday afternoons from 2-4. We will meet in the conference room.
We will have our first group meeting on Friday, Sept 16. During this meeting, Saiyam will talk about our proposed reorganization of the Ngram Statistics Package from a coding/software engineering point of view. Our objective is to make NSP more like some of our other modules, in terms of making more extensive use of classes, inheritance, etc... basically to make it a standard object oriented Perl module. We recognize that NSP is something that belongs in some way to most of us, either as developers or users, and so we will proceed with some care, and will make sure there are plenty of opportunities for discussion of the changes we are thinking to make, before we make them. So if any of you receiving this note have thoughts on the internal organization of NSP, or functionality that it should have, now would be a very good time to share those with us. Thereafter we will have group meetings on Friday, Sept 30 and then again on Friday, October 14. I am undecided regarding the topics of these meetings as yet, but we'll figure that out in the next few weeks.
