I just noticed that there will be a fairly good data mining conference in Minneapolis:
http://www.siam.org/meetings/sdm07/ This takes place in April 2007, and it does not appear that many details are known as yet. There are good and bad conferences, btw, and to some degree you can judge their quality based on the nature of the sponsoring organization.
