The Ngram Statistics Package - please read the CICLING-2003 paper on NSP, and try to install and use NSP. NSP is available on marengo if you have some trouble with the install. The CICLING-2003 paper remains a good source for becoming familiar with the features and use of NSP. While the package went through a major rewrite in 2005-2006 to make it object-oriented (due to Saiyam Kohli) the basic interface and features of the system remain largely as originally implemented by Satanjeev Banerjee back in 2001-2002. These include kocos.pl, combig.pl, huge-count.pl, huge-combine.pl, and a few others so please take a look at those as well. We will also talk a little bit more about the topics for your literature reviews, which are due to CC on Mon Oct 29. Finally, we will discuss some general issues about writing, paying particular importance to how we write, which naturally starts to include issues surrounding plagiarism (what it is and how to avoid it).
