So how much data are you backing up?  How often do you need to restore? How
much data can you afford to lose?  Why are you planning on online backup
system?

Have you considered something like an external USB / Firewire / eSATA drive
that you just swap out every week and take off site?

You could even get something as simple as this:

and use raw drives.  Small drives (i.e. ~320 Gb) are cheap today and even
1Tb drives are only $100 or so.  Speed would not really be an issue and it
seems that 3 or 4 320s would let you swap out drives each week and keep 2-3
weeks offsite.  Yes, there would need to be some human intervention once a
week, but it is certainly worth considering.  Total cost would be <$500 and
is essentially a once off price.  Granted you would want to replace the
drives once a year or so, but drive prices keep dropping / capacity keeps
increasing for the same $.
