Thanks to all who responded. I continued through my searches and found a few candidates. Alas, I cannot order in time for Xmas without spending more on shipping than reasonable. Timex has just the clock for ~ $60 (tax, title and license) listed on Amazon if anybody else cares... There are a couple of other interesting units that ship directly from China -- try to get that on short notice.
