I used to use an old Athlon 1800 system that my brother was throwing out to run FreeNAS Unfortunately, whether it was a shortcoming in FreeNAS, a chipset problem, or something else hindering things, I get better throughput on the current external enclosure when it works - and the current enclosure is USB. Plus a dedicated box running just for storage wasn't as energy friendly as I'd like it to be, of course maybe something designed to run as a NAS might be a bit lighter weight in the electricity department. I won't just rule it out if you can point out something specific. -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "NLUG" group. > To post to this group, send email to [email protected] > To unsubscribe from this group, send email to > [email protected]<nlug-talk%[email protected]> > For more options, visit this group at > http://groups.google.com/group/nlug-talk?hl=en > >
