I am looking to add a discrete video card to my AMD system. I currently have a AMD X3 CPU on a Biostar TA790GX A3+ motherboard with integrated graphics and it works well enough, however, I have a friend from way back who is interested in some online gaming and so I am thinking about upgrading the video card. Any suggestions on ATI vs nvidia and / or on specific cards? I would like to not spend more than about $100 and there seem to be some nice (if not cutting edge) cards out there for that price point, but I am being tempted by the Radeon HD 5770 even though it is selling for about $170. I will be using this in various operating systems so it would be good to have a card that is supported by Linux, Windows, the fruity company's OS, and even chrome OS (chromium) which I think is Linux based anyway.
