If you are willing to void the warranty by opening the case, fixing the vibration problem would probably be as simple as adding a drop of mineral oil to the vibration motor. It sounds like the motor is sticking until you shake it loose.

The official fix is to "tap it on a table or other hard surface" which fixes it... until the next time it stops working. It is slowly getting more frequent that this happens. Other problems... 1) it is slow as snails trying to go uphill on greased glass into a headwind 2) it will not run IOS 4.x (ok, technically it will, but if it is slow running 3.1.3....) 3) did I mention that it is slow?
