Just like religion the various package managers generate devotees and disciples.
The package manager formats and manager software have added the
ability to collect software and the ability to 'easily install' the software.

RPM was a great innovation when it happened early in the life of Linux
from Red Hat.
It too has changed internally over the years, and other package
managers have arose.
They all have benefits and detractors, but overall, without the package managers
life would be much more difficult.
