I'm fairly agnostic as to the underlying package manager these days. I "grew up" with RPM, and so know the commands better if I ever need to "get under the hood" if something ever breaks, which is very rare now. I like to try different distros occasionally, and don't pick what to try based on what package manager it has. These days, the GUI interfaces make them almost the same experience for an average user. But there are some who have strong preferences, especially if those who do lots of stuff at the package level, or have affinity for the command line interface.
