I messed up an external drive by running dban in AUTOnuke mode. I had left the external drive plugged and, seconds after starting the scrub, realized what I had done and removed the cables from the external drive.
The files were not accessible and I was panic stricken b/c it was all my wife's school work. Attaching the external drive to a Linux PC and running the CLI "testdisk" recovered the data.
