For grins, earlier this fall I wasted a little time once trying to get a VirtualBox Plan9:
http://virtualboxes.org/images/plan-9/ but did not get it going, but didn't really waste any more time on it either since. I recall it vaguely from back in the day when it was still "new". A college buddy of mine had it loaded up on something he had cobbled together (non-Intel), and it reminded me of the early Macintoshes. Back then, anything so GUI like that was really something special. Hard to believe it's coming up on 30 years ago now! :) -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Jack Coats Sent: Saturday, December 01, 2012 1:39 PM To: NLUG; Patrick Becker; Steve Ghertner Subject: [nlug] For those intersted in RaspberryPi Hackaday just had a posting about a Plan9 port to the Pi. Plan9 (name taken from the cult movie "Plan9 from Outer Space") was described as 'more Unix than Unix' back in the day. It has and allows multiple 'display stations', storage computers, compute computers, etc. Quite interesting really. And yes, it was really used at Bell Labs by everyone from secretarial pool, bosses, everyone. ><> ... Jack Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart...
