tough dog to master (and I don't own that dog). There are a couple of
other GPL based alternatives that might suit your purposes that (to me)
are much easier to deal with *IF* they will do what you need:

Both appear to still be in some degree of active development.
I haven't messed with Zenoss yet but Zabbix seemed useful. I think Nagios
has a web front end too that I have never messed with.

Always happy to hear about alternatives, Mark. In this case I _am_ bent
on Nagios. (that I am bent is well documented) The challenge here is
that always before I came in the middle after the initial install had
the kinks worked out.
