Lucky you. ... I was just completing my latest historical diatribe on
booting.  ... I'll press delete on that instead.

I did some google searches and found what you are experiencing to be
NOT unusual.

Just as a hail mary, reset the bios, unplug the battery for a while.
Then plug it back together.

Also, unset the 'bootable' options on all the partitions except the
one you want.
