Nashville area and Tennessee is a super place to live! Besides NLUG check out other user groups if you happen to be a developer. The user group scene in Nashville totally reflects the boom cited in the articles. You can select from Java, .NET, PHP, Ruby, Functional Programming Agile development user groups for example to name some of them.
Maybe this is still not off topic: Besides that Tennessee is a beautiful place, 50+ state parks. When I lived there I managed to visit 25+ of the, all of them marvellous. Great Smoky Mountains is close too. Surrounding states are in drive distances, worth to visit and easy to drive to (example: GA, AL, NC, KY, etc., you drive down straight south 8 hours and you can enjoy Florida ocean whit crystal white sand (Destin Beach area) for cheap prices (compared to Miami or other up-scale popular destinations)). The food in Nashville is also world class, you can find any kind of cousine in any price range. Basically you have everything you need.
