Thanks for chiming in, Csaba.

I even took the VM guest down, bumped the allocated memory to 12GB and upon reboot, tried the java -Xmx2048M test and it failed straight away. Something more basic is at play here. Going to see which version of java is installed, trace the RPM, etc. Make sure it _is_ the same as the other working systems.
