Comcast has Nashville as a Test market for its cap. There are like 4 test markets, the rest of the US doesn't currently have a hard cap. Nashville we have 300gb combined cap. You get an email at 90% then at 100%. At that point you get 3 free overages. After your third overage in a 12 month period they will charge you $10 for 50g chunks. I've not seen an upper limit on that charge or allocation.
I don't have cable tv just their internet package. It is mostly fast, 50 down 11 up. But you can see the packet shaping happening to youtube and netflix in the hours of 7pm to midnight. Since I don't have tv I use a lot of streaming for my entertainment. So I'm always bumping up to the limit. This month is my first overage since the cap was put in place 2 years ago. But I've had the calls from them years ago saying I use too much. Now it's just an email. Sucks to be a week left in the month and feel like I have to ration my usage. I said screw it. This is a free overage lets just go way over. Sucks that like I want to play a new game, Broken Age, but I'm hesitant to download it. Big game updates kill your allotment. I don't mind paying but it's kinda ridiculous. -Kevin Sent from my iPhone > On Jan 28, 2014, at 10:55 AM, Howard White <[email protected]> wrote: > >> On 01/28/2014 10:16 AM, Jack Coats wrote: >> Saw on Toms Hardware that AT&T is capping people at 150G/mo of data and >> Comcast is dropping users who regularly use over 250G/mo. > > And what with the "not network neutral" Verizon court decision, this is only > going to get more expensive - especially for Netflex et al users. > > Howard > > -- > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "NLUG" group. > To post to this group, send email to [email protected] > To unsubscribe from this group, send email to > [email protected] > For more options, visit this group at > http://groups.google.com/group/nlug-talk?hl=en > > --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "NLUG" group. > To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an > email to [email protected]. > For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/groups/opt_out. -- -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "NLUG" group.
