Luckily I've been able to reconstruct the NoMachine 3.5 RPMs I need to
get all my systems running it again. The new version is fine, unless
you want to access an external server. I guess I'll use 4.0 for my
internal systems, and 3.5 for the outward-facing machines.
Sorry, VNC isn't my thing, and I hate the trouble of setting up SSH
tunnels with X forwarding.
Hi Alex,
Take a look at X2Go [0]. It's an active fork of NX that continued open
development after NoMachine took it completely closed-source in 4.0. I
haven't used it personally.
If you care about exporting individual applications rather than entire
desktops, I've had great success with xpra. It's dramatically faster
than X11 forwarding or VNC, and the author has been quick to respond to
problems I've found.
