We (at home) have a 20+ year old 4P that recently went faint, no can
read the print. I know the HP 4L and 4P printers very well, thank you.
A very close call on having the 4P fixed.
At home we currently have a Xerox Phaser 6250n that we rather adore. We
are just now due for a set of toner cartridges and "it's gonna hurt the
wallet." Those printers were sold at a clearance price when we were
looking for a color laser as Xerox was refreshing their line.
But I asked in the context of my office, and specifically for a printer
with a network interface that, regrettably, the 4L and 4P do not have.
Need something with a higher yield toner cartridge. We have recommended
the HP P1606dn and the HP P2015n, P2035n and P2055n to our customers
with reasonable results.
Several customers have gotten various Brother printers; every time I
wince when they call and ask me to set it up. Five years ago, Brother
printers were a mess. I have to say that Brother has gotten their act
together and I shall quit wincing on those calls.
Another customer has gotten at least three Canon imageCLASS mf6160dw
printers which connected to CentOS 6 push, pull, click. These are
multifunction units but it encourages me to look at that product line.
Friday, we the office, went to lunch and then Office Despot to get more
toner for our HP yada yada M451m (color laser). Seems we're going
through all four cartridges rather quickly. Seems that standard yield
cartridges are 2000 page yield. Our prior color laser was a HP 3800n
whose cartridges were more like 6000 page yield. We don't need that
much color so I'm looking for a high(er) yield monochrome.
