I’ve actually got a healthy mix of KVM, ESXi and Citrix Xenserver
(xenserver.org) going on. Xenserver != Xen (though they share the Xen
hypervisor). One thing I particularly like about Xenserver (especially with
version 7 now released) is that for free, it includes many of the
“enterprise” features that you have to pay for with ESXi (like hot migration
between xenserver hosts, etc). Having many dishes to choose from makes it
funner (for me at least)! :)

I'm enjoying it so far. Just getting started with it. It's my first ESXi
host. Taking the leap from Workstation. I found this blog post before I
bought it where someone else was using the same model.

ESXi installed without any issues. I'm doing some upgrades on my home
network. Getting vCenter server installed is next goal along with setting up
a domain for my homelab.
