If the executable is set[ug]id, then your kernel will not produce a core
dump. You may well want to patch your kernel to let it do this; I know
that FreeBSD has an option to do this using sysctl. I'm not sure where
you would do it in Linux.
Alternatively, frig the permissions on your mail directory and remove
the set[ug]id bits. That may be easier. :-)
