A (very) quick survey seems to indicate to me that's a Linux-ism. I see no reason why can't simply improve mhn.defaults; that should make things better for the usual case. Also, since we're revisiting things ... maybe we should make -attach the default? With X-MH-Attachment? The people who use it haven't reported any problems, right?
