As others have pointed out, the MHSHOW environment variable can be
used to specify a file with additional mhshow profile entries. This
isn't SUPER convenient, but seems like a perfect choice for a
shell alias.

It looks like there isn't a direct override. But ... I think you could
make it work by wrapping the showproc in somethat that backgrounds the
actual display program and exit()s in the parent. Like (untested):
"cp %f /tmp/foo.$$.jpg; (xv /tmp/foo.$$.jpg; rm -f /tmp/foo.$$.jpg) &"
Okay, that might not work right off the bat because I'm not sure what $$
will expand to in the subshell, but that's the general gist. Might be
easier to do as a separate script.
