PK/PD Associates announces today the release of PK Curve a mobile application
on the iPhone and iPod touch platform, providing a FREE mobile resource and
training tool for students, industry scientists, consultants, and anyone
interested in pharmacy or pharmaceutical sciences. The app accommodates 8
different PK models, calculates area under the curve (AUC), maximum
concentration (Cmax), terminal half-life (t1/2) and produces concentration-time
graphs in linear and logarithmic scales.

An overview of PK Curve feature set includes the ability to automatically
calculate the Cmax, AUC and t1/2 when users select the route of administration,
number of compartments and input profile. The app will automatically draw the
concentration-time profile using both a linear and logarithmic y-axis. The
advantages of PK Curve app allows users to quickly generate PK
concentration-time curves, accurately calculate PK parameters with minimal
effort, quickly evaluate changes in pharmacokinetic parameters and their impact
on drug exposure and the concentration-time profile. Users can save the PK
Curve and share the data by emailing the settings, parameters, and both the
linear and logarithmic graphs using their iPhone or iPod touch.

“I have been teaching and training for over 11 years in the pharmaceutical
industry, developing on-line training tools for pharmacy students,
pharmacokinetics lectures for non-PK scientists, and given specialized training
in population pharmacokinetics,” says Dr. Nathan Teuscher, Founder of PK/PD
Associates. He adds “My dynamic teaching style helps students understand the
material and integrate the concepts into practice, so it seemed natural to
develop a free resource along with my other intuitive software tools to aid in
pharmacokinetic analysis.”

The PK Curve app includes a link to the Learn PK/PD blog
(http://blog.learnpkpd.com) where users can get instant access to information
about pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Teuscher worked with Apptology
Inc. to develop and publish the PK Curve mobile app on the iPhone and iPod
touch platform and is currently available for FREE in the iTunes App Store
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pk-curve/id442624535?mt=8.
