We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our team as a PhD candidate/Post-doctoral research fellow in Translational Pharmacology. About Us: Our group at the National Research Council is at the forefront of groundbreaking research aimed at combating tuberculosis. Using in silico modelling and simulation approaches, our team is advancing the development novel candidate molecules to be used in future clinical trials and exploring the feasibility of shorter regimens, with a strong focus on the interaction between the host immune system, pathogen and antitubercular drugs. Key Responsibilities: As a researcher in translational pharmacology, you will: * Conduct in-depth evaluation of dose rationale for antitubercular drug combinations. Characterise the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of these drug combinations. Utilize statistical tools to optimise data generation in preclinical and clinical experimental protocols . Develop drug-disease models describing the interaction between drugs, pathogens and host immune system. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of experts in tuberculosis . Contribute to the development of novel approaches for the evaluation of efficacy and treatment strategies for tuberculosis. Manage relevant project activities and ensure timely publication of research findings in scientific journals. Qualifications: We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and qualities: * A degree in Medicine, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bioengineering, Pharmacy, Biostatistics or a related discipline (MSc/MRes level). (Applicants for a post-doctoral research fellow should have completed a PhD in clinical pharmacology, pharmacometrics or related area, preferably in a topic relevant to the development of anti-infectives) Strong analytical and synthetic skills (i.e., problem solving abilities). Previous hands-on experience in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Working knowledge of R (statistical software package). Basic programming skills and prior experience with modelling and simulation software (e.g. NONMEM, MONOLIX, MATLAB). A collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
