🔬 Join Our Team in Advancing Tuberculosis Research! 🔬

Position: PhD/Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Translational Pharmacology

Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact in the field of
pharmaceutical sciences and eager to contribute to the fight against one of the
world's most pressing health challenges? Are you someone who is independent but
thrives as a team player? We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to
join our team as a PhD candidate/Post-doctoral research fellow in Translational
Pharmacology.

About Us:

Our group at the National Research Council is at the forefront of
groundbreaking research aimed at combating tuberculosis. Using in silico
modelling and simulation approaches, our team is advancing the development
novel candidate molecules to be used in future clinical trials and exploring
the feasibility of shorter regimens, with a strong focus on the interaction
between the host immune system, pathogen and antitubercular drugs. By joining
us, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to innovative solutions
that can save lives.

Key Responsibilities:

As a researcher in translational pharmacology, you will:

  * Conduct in-depth evaluation of dose rationale for antitubercular drug
combinations.

Characterise the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of these drug
combinations.

Utilize statistical tools to optimise data generation in preclinical and
clinical experimental protocols .

Develop drug-disease models describing the interaction between drugs, pathogens
and host immune system.

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of experts in tuberculosis .

Contribute to the development of novel approaches for the evaluation of
efficacy and treatment strategies for tuberculosis.

Manage relevant project activities and ensure timely publication of research
findings in scientific journals.

Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and qualities:

  * A degree in Medicine, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bioengineering, Pharmacy,
Biostatistics or a related discipline (MSc/MRes level).
(Applicants for a post-doctoral research fellow should have completed a PhD in
clinical pharmacology, pharmacometrics or related area, preferably in a topic
relevant to the development of anti-infectives)

Strong analytical and synthetic skills (i.e., problem solving abilities).

Previous hands-on experience in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.

Working knowledge of R (statistical software package).

Basic programming skills and prior experience with modelling and simulation
software (e.g. NONMEM, MONOLIX, MATLAB).

A collaborative and team-oriented mindset.

Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

What We Offer:

  * The opportunity to work on a high-impact research project.

Access to state-of-the-art in silico modelling and simulation technologies.

Guidance and mentorship from experienced, internationally renowned researchers.
