The term "bandwidth hog" is a relative term referring to the top 1 to 5 percentile. A bandwidth hog is someone who takes 10, 100, or 1000 times as much network capacity as the average user of his/her time. So while tomorrow's average Internet users might look like today's bandwidth hog in absolute terms, they're really not bandwidth hogs.
