Proposed California bill would let parents block algorithmic social
feeds for children. A second bill aims to protect data privacy for
those under 18.

These remain unworkable and ultimately dangerous for that very reason.
Without age verification that would ultimately permit the government
to track every user of every social media site (and later, any site)
and risk massive new personal information leaks, there is nothing to
indicate that chronological feeds are any "safer" than algorithmic
ones. This kind of political expediency (that won't actually protect
children at all and may put them at even more risks of abuse) threatens the foundation of the Internet. -L
