Apple VR headset vs. Meta VR headsets

To be even clearer about this (in answer to questions) I am unlikely
in the extreme to have anything in terms of personal experience to say
about the new Apple Vision Pro headset, for several reasons. A big
one is that it cannot accommodate eyeglasses, something that over 50%
of Americans (including me) wear. That means contacts (no go for me)
or expensive prescription inserts. I suppose that for someone willing
to spend $3500 on that headset the extra $150 or whatever for the
insert lenses are in the noise, but even then you'd need to be
fumbling around taking your glasses on and off to use the thing. And
of course the $3500 price is (to my sensibilities) enormous and might
as well be a million dollars as far as I'm concerned.

It's clear that Apple is going for an entirely different market than
Meta is with their Quest VR headsets. I am quite familiar with the
Quest 1 and Quest 2. I have not even seen a Quest 3 -- it's gotten
relatively pricey compared with the earlier headsets at this point. It
would be interesting to see how much better than the Quest 2 the Quest
3 actually is, but that's not likely anytime soon. I will say that
both the Quest 1 and Quest 2 are very impressive pieces of technology.

Anyway, that's the situation. Questions about the two Meta devices
that I know well are welcome, but I cannot provide any personal
experience comments for the new Apple headset. -L
