I haven't felt adventurous enough to modify the DB with a script as
I'm pretty sure I would unknowingly screw up some relationship
MoneyWell depends on and hose my data file. My query for getting
bucket balances is probably also more complex than it needs to be, but
I had to make some assumptions while reverse engineering the table
relationships :)

If for some reason AppleScript support gets pushed back, maybe you
could consider creating a simple API that would enable external
scripts to do some basic query/update operations in a "safe" manner.

I think giving users a way to extend the functionality of MoneyWell
would be a win-win. Users who have very particular needs would have a
way to implement some things themselves, and also would have an easy
way to share these extensions with others (with obvious disclaimers of
using at your own risk). Meanwhile, you can work on adding the
features that a majority of people actually want and not be bothered
with the few of us who are requesting obscure enhancements :)
