Coming from Quicken I wanted something similar... I wanted the plus
and minus keys to move the date up and down but I soon discovered the
quick date feature. Simply typing "6" in the date field and tabbing
to the next field will assume a date of current month/6/current year.
So if I type "6" I get 04/06/2009. It's hard to get better than one
keystroke to get a full date.

If the month I'm entering is different from the current calendar month
I type 3.14 and this gives me 03/14/2009. I like this feature and
once I knew it was there I no longer craved the plus/minus keys.

Thanks for the hints. They should make things go faster, yet I'd still really like the up and down arrow to do this (as they are not used by anything else there).
