Lance – that's a pretty clever use of hidden buckets. It would
certainly work similarly to what I was thinking, but the major
difference is that I want those Bucket Bucks to be completely gone. I
noticed hidden buckets still affect the Bucket Balance (as they
should), which would throw me off. Plus I'm not too keen on
remembering to manage something that's hidden.

That's an interesting idea, to be sure, but it sounds like it would
preclude me from taking advantage of the automated Spending Plan, and
the typical MoneyWell flow. Besides saving some manual work, the
Spending Plan is also a good way of ensuring I am consistent in
spending, and that I only have my paycheck to work with each month.
Also, I like the whole idea of planning on spending – it makes me feel
richer, and is a lot more rewarding when I decide I perhaps don't need
to spend quite so much, and can move the excess to Savings.

The typical MoneyWell usage model is exactly what I need, I just have
a harder time spending my Savings money. I think the solution I'm
going to go with is to piggyback my planned savings spending onto a
typical early savings-to-checking transfer, and then transfer back the
savings money. That way, there's only about one extra transfer per
month. I will say, though, that I am surprised I'm the uncommon one
for trying to leave as little money as possible in my checking
account. From speaking to others, I was under the impression this was
a rather normal practice.
