I suspect this might have a lot to do with being on Windows. Lots of things are known not to perform well there (Apache, probably Rails too), whereas Node has had a lot of effort put in to make it very fast on Windows.
Having said that, RoR is slower than Node, just maybe not quite THAT much slower. Matt.
