Apparently we have an inconsistency between platforms (and ponies).
C:\TEMP>mkdir a
C:\TEMP>touch x
C:\TEMP>node --version
v0.6.18
C:\TEMP>node
> require('path').existsSync('x/.')
true
> require('path').existsSync('a/.')
true
