Suggestion - identify a personal project you would like to do then hit
http://www.codecademy.com and "Modern Javascript"(book) for learning the
basics of javascript. About mid-way through the lessons you will know
enough to start looking at the code people have written for modules and
projects and to identify what you need for your own personal project. Then
spiral develop ie. bounce between book, codecademy, and forums to figure
out how to do your project. As for node.js, forums (esp. this one and
http://stackoverflow.com), documentation for node, and "Node: Up and
Running"(book). Personal project is important, I think, as it keeps you
motivated when (inevitably) nothing seems to be working, it's midnight, and
you don't know why you're even bothering to try and learn a new language :-)
