Hello Boys; I was just thinking of how it difficult it must be running a SOM League.. prob just like the old joke about herding a bunch of cranky cats! So I was remembering how much I looked forward to that little piece of mail (SOM Review) every other month and would read it cover to cover many times. It was one of the joys of this hobby. I miss it. I would like to recognize the hard, mostly thankless work done month after month by our hardworking Robert, and say THANK YOU! Plus I resolve to get my Cmp mgrs in EARLY and finish my schedule every month in a timely fashion to assist the record keeping. I look forward to perhaps a .500 season (yippee) and loads of fun. I wish we could all get together for a NOMBL annual softball game with plenty of suds and really meet each other. Maybe we could make up some fun SOM softball cards and have a game at the All Star Break? (PS I can't hit lefties for my card..) Geneva PS I am serious about helping out. Just point me and release like a Labrador!

Yes, Robert started the league with a bunch of friends and they seem to get along just fine - trading - playing face-to-face, etc. They are the heart of the league. It is true that other leagues have better websites, more active roster update and trade notices, etc. We are the way we are because we are not so computer advanced to do more than we do. A couple years ago I tracked all trades and roster adjustments and sent it out regularly. I did not do this last year as I choose to get more involved at church and coach a couple little league teams. My kids are all grown - but I love coaching/teaching baseball. I am in 3 leagues and one of the leagues is having its rookie draft next Saturday 1/10 so I have been preparing for that. Thus, I have not taken the time to type out the rosters in excel. If someone wants to do that project great. If not I will get to it after my draft. I will make an effort to track all future trades and keep up rosters. I have a few suggestions for rule changes and think others may have some ideas. If you get frustrated - please take a deep breath and count to a million. I will try to help and so will Robert and the rest of the Virginia guys. We my not always agree - but our goals are saimiliar - we want a good league and good teams.
