NOMBL constitution:
1.6: Each team shall always carry a minimum of two regular players
at each defensive position on their 41 man roster. During each month each
team shall carry 1 player at each position as well as: a second catcher and
enough utility players to cover 2B, SS and 3B. These positions can all be
covered by 1 regular player if he is capable.
As we begin our season with the stink draft i thought i would
bring this rule to our attention. A quick check of last years computer
managers
will show instances of this rule not being followed. I believe it's an
over site and not intentional. It does however put those of us who follow the
rule and keep light hitting infielders and backup catchers on our rosters
each month at a disadvantage.
Also i think it would make sense at some point to adapt a rule that
the starting lineup must have players that are carded at the position
their starting at. If after they play at least one inning in the field and get
at least one at bat or are injured only then they can they be moved or
replaced. The only exception would be DH's who would be able to play first
base
only. On this i must plead guilty as i was among those that started a
player at an uncarded position last year.
Many of the leagues on the Flory site have similar language in
their constitutions. It adds to the realism of the game. As there are only 20
teams in our league there are more than enough players to go around.
Managers could make changes soon enough anyways. They would however pay a
price
by depleting their bench to bring in an unqualified "big hitter" later
on. As in MLB it would more fairly value players for their versatility.
Strat-o-matic will this year have a "remainder of game only"
injury option. Perhaps to avoid the confusion that injuries seem to cause we
could use this option.

So if I understand this correctly…
1) The Stink Draft starts on January 25th
if not before
2) What is the Draft order and what are the teams in the Stink Draft?

3) Where do we find a list of the players that are in the Stink Draft?
there was a list sent to everyone as each team made cuts which included
released players. I have asked Lou or Jack to handle but havent
heard back from either one yet.
4) What is the email part of the draft you reference?
For appx four yrs we start the draft by email (usually b4 now) and
guessing NICK can/will set the site up for making the picks on line and
whatever
rounds we dont finish by the 3rd Sat in March will be completed w time
limits.
5) The Geneva Cubs have made all cuts.
6) If we take a player in the Stink Draft we must cut a player correct?
Yes which means that the other teams now may draft that player also.

but since he has made his cuts will be able to hold the draft anyway. If
we have to we can do by email and I can make the changes on the site.
Then shortly we will begin our email part of the draft. NICK can we use
the site to learn how to draft before the Live draft in March (24th). This
would be w/o time limit whereas the live draft will be 5 min limit I think
and maybe for those that want to try entering draft list on the site might
be good time to learn as any mistakes can be corrected w/o stopping the
draft.
Also since Jack has suggested we use the site to draft this
yr...........................
The cost is $2 more per team and NICK please tell us how payment is made
(by team or 1 person PIF) and by means it needs to be (form of pmt).
If cuts are not made on the site by Tuesday 24th then will be fined your
lowest picks and they will be made for you. Sorry.
Lou or Jack would either like to do the draft which would include making
sure all teams are at roster limits on the site (picks and players) ASAP.
