According to a public news source here in Japan, the casualties in what is happening in Gaza, rocket attacks by Hamas and air raids by Israel are 4 Israelis and approximately 440 Palestinians. Israeli ground forces have already crossed the boundary. The Israel's stated object is to stop the rocket attack by Hamas. I suppose Israel will succeed in that pursuit, considering its overwhelming military hardware. However, it will be a temporary solution to Israel and the Islamic nations' antagonism toward Israel will simply deepen.
It is also told in Japan that Israel took this as an oportune timiing, seeing temporary vacancy of effective leadership of US presidency, and also uncertainty in the next US administration, for surgically removing one irritating factor.
