Yes, this puts me into a sort of conspiratorial mode with the
editor-in-chief, talking in codes.

While this sort of thing is fine for comedy -- Benny Hill spoke volumes with
a wink, wink, nudge, nudge -- it does not seem appropriate for straight news
reporting.

If the perpetrators had been neo-Nazi skinheads, this fact would most
certainly have been stated explicitly in the article. But if they are
Muslims, this is not stated and we are left to make assumptions.

I do not like this double standard.
