I forgot to mention it :
Please unzip all files into a *clean* folder (ie. a just created directory
without
old notepad++ files inside).

The Context Menu is already optional in installer.
Just uncheck this option when you install Notepad++.

This feature is already done in the QuickText plugin developed by Alph.
see :
https://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1621320&forum_id=482781

You can download it from notepad++ download section
http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/download.php

or its project page in sourceforge :

Just tried this.

When closing the directory explorer panel, "plugins -> explore -> view exlorer"
is still checked. You then have to uncheck it and recheck it to get the explorer
back.

I know I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, but seriously. Why no CTRL-F4
support to close an open document. Only CTRL-W.

Seriously. What's the deal. Is this a HUUUGGE problem? Or are you just trying
to torture us Windows users because we use Windows and don't use Linux and we'll
learn to love linux because we FINALLY get in the habit of using CTRL-W to close
documents. If the software I wanted to run would run on Linux, I'd switch in
a minute. Ever try to play "No One Lives Forever" on Linux? Or "F.E.A.R"? Or
Half-Life 2? Or run CorelDraw? And don't tell me the alternatives on Linux are
just as good. Even if they were, I already know how to use these apps and like
them just fine, thanks very much.

So, I'm a Windows user, I would much rather use Linux, but again, the software
I want to run doesn't run on Linux.

Please implement standard Windows keystrokes, like CTRL-F4. Seriously. Notepad++
is a Windows program. It runs on Windows. It uses a lot of the fancy built-in
controls that are included in the Windows OS. If you're all about the Linux,
encourage the use of the keyboard instead of the mouse, and you might make
command
line nerds out of all of us yet... but let us use the key combos we've been
using for, oh FIFTEEN YEARS, and don't force us to change, please. Seriously.

The F4 key on my old IBM 101 key keyboard (NO frikkin' windows keys) is isolated
at the right-end of the row of function keys. Easy to find without looking.
W is crammed in the middle of other keys, where I might hit CTRL-Q or CTRL-S
or whatever else. CTRL-F4 is out of the way, and if I accidentally hit CTRL-F3,
nothing bad happens. I don't want to learn to use CTRL-W because it's not a
particularly user friendly keystroke.

Great product, but this lack of CTRL-F4 support just pisses me off a little
every time I use it. I feel like Oliver Twist in the orphanage, asking for
more gruel. Notepad++ isn't tasteless gruel... but I feel like asking for
CTRL-F4
is going to get "you should be happy how much effort the developer puts into
this project!!!" and I truly am.

But WHY still no CTRL-F4 support. Why?

Thanks for your answer, yet it would increase the usability of your esteemed
program, if you could toggle the switch not only whilst installing :) ! You
might include this feature one day, it would be great.

Greetings,

Dirk

The problem seems to persist in v4.0RC2. The saving silently fails (I've lost
many hours because of it) if user lacks write permissions to the file or it's
locked by another process. In v3.9 it was possible to test whether saving
succeed
by trying to re-save (when failed the save icon was disabled) but in v4.0RC2
save icon stays enabled.

hmm...

"ctrl + w" is more convinient than "alt+f4", IMHO, but both variant should be
possible.

AS FOR ME: I simple do DBL-CLICK on the corresponding TAB! And it is VERY
convinient/useful/fast!!!
P.S: This option should be set in "true" in "settings -> preferencse ->
global".

I'll try to fix this, but not in v4.0 OR.

:-D
That's a good one, really.

> Please implement standard Windows keystrokes, like CTRL-F4. Seriously.

I don't remember in which version, but before the shorcut mapper was
implemented,
Ctrl+F4 and Ctrl+W were both used. The shorcut mapper makes unnecessary for
the existing of both shortcuts, and also impose the constraint of unique
shortcut
per command. I choosed one of both shortcuts by guesswork (since I don't use
this shortcut), so it's not kind of conspiracy to transform Windows users to
Linux ones :)

Seriously, you can use shortcut mapper to change this shortcut from CTRL-W
to CTRL-F4.
But why don't you just change this shortcut, once and forever? Why?

:)

Don
