Hi,

I noticed that a couple of useful regex symbols aren't supported, the two I
tried were | and ?. | is alternation. The specific example I tried was
(<code>|</code>), pretty simple. When that didn't work I decided to try another
method, </?code>, but found that wasn't supported either.

If you could support those two methods that would be great.

-Kerry

P.S. I ended up having to do </*code> which is a bit sloppy but worked fine
since it wasn't that important of a document.

Hi, Notepad++ is excellent.

I noted a missing font that appears in other editors and apps but is missing
in notepad++. Bitstream Vera San Mono is missing.

To be more exact in the font drop-down selection I have: Bitstream Vera San
Mono Bold. I observe the only font of this type I can get is BOLD. I assume
if it said in the drop-down menu: Bitstream Vera San Mono, then I'd have the
expected choices for this font.

Could anyone please tell me what to do to fix?

Thanks, Lee G.

I guess until we get an answer of exactly how to build Notepad++, I'm just going
to have to look elsewhere. I'm really interested in finding a good open source
text editor that I can contribute to, but without even a working build process
(or at the least, instructions!) it's not even worth using.

I'll keep checking back, but for now I'll have to keep searching for another
program. Hopefully in the meantime someone can shed some light on exactly how
to build NPP.

... or any other scripting language, say Python?
I am used to command-line editors like XEDIT, KEDIT, THE.
I have not figured out how to use the NPP Macro facility.

I've just installed notepad++ and find it very nice. Unfortunately it lacks
in the main feature I need: it can't open a very big file. Very big, for me,
means >500MB.
When I try, it gives me "instruction 0x10043e73 try to access addr 0x0000000.
Memory can't be written" (translated from my italian Win2000).
Is it a notepad++ limit or am I doing something wrong?

I agree It is a function that is often available on Linux, so it could be very
good to integrate to notepad++ some interesting Linux function. This could be
very useful

Would it be possible for "Spellchecker.ini" to have a section that points to
the Aspell installation?

Aspell registers its path in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive of the Windows Registry
which requires Administrator permissions to patch. When using Notepad++ from
a USB drive one does not always have Administrator permissions which makes
Aspell,
and therefore Notepad++ Spellchecker, unavailable for "normal user" accounts
on guest machines.

Perhaps an easier solution would be for Spellchecker to look in the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software branch; but I like the ini file idea better.

For me, one of the primary strengths of Notepad++ is the fact that it is "self
contained": it keeps all its configuration in local files and does not need
any installation. It would be nice if the Spellchecker plugin could continue
the tradition.

Thanks, by the way, for the great plugin! In the past I used a VBScript hack
to access the MS Word spell check. Slow and clunky, but it worked if MS Word
was also on the system (which for me was usually the case).

Mike
