Actually I'd like to see someway of adding custom languages, then being able
to distribute the config.
That way its takes the onus off of developers to support every language request
and on to those who want to use the languages.
It would also be handy for some of the weird microcode languages I use.

Hello,
Agree with the previous post.
I saw the code of N++ where all regex stuff is delegated to some poor,
completely
non-standard, badly documented scintillas' function. Why?!
I would find quite reasonable to support standard Perl compatible regular
expressions
in N++ (please see http://www.pcre.org). As far as I know there exists a stable
FREE implementation in C/C++.
P.S.: honestly, RegEx is the only thing which prevents me from using N++. All
the rest is quite nice really ;)

The lack of FTP support is the only reason that i dont use N++ more often, I
would definitely use it as my primary script editor if it had FTP support!

You might try the TextFX Viz menu. Copy the special word to the clipboard,
then use the TextFX Viz menu items to either show lines with, or hide lines
without, (clipboard) text. You can then delete the visible lines if you are
showing lines with the special word, or delete the invisible lines if you are
hiding those lines. --Joel

There really *should* be a way to set a default path. Hacking the shortcut
works,
but it's a less than desirable workaround.

Instead of installing FTP support in Notepad++ directly, I would personally*
prefer a tool running in the background that mirrored a local subdirectory to
the remote host's subdirectory, updating the remote host when a local file was
changed, like WinSCP's "Keep Remote Directory Up To Date" (link already posted
above).
That way I'd have a local backup copy, plus I could work when the connection
was down. And Notepad++ would only see the local directory, so the file I/O
would be fast and remote host updates would not impact my operations. In
addition,
the solution would work for whatever tool I used, instead of having to add FTP
support to other tools as well. --Joel

Hi,
I'm new to Notepad++ and to this forum.
Background: I have used WinEdt up to now for TeX-related tasks.
Problems: a) no unicode; b) no bidirectionality.
I use the ConTeXt macropackage, not LaTeX. Scite has strong ConTeXt support
(the main developer uses it) but no bidi (afaik) and a bit alien to my tastes.
Notepad++ seems similar enough to WinEdt/Scite-Scintilla so I have decided to
switch.
Am now working on setting up Notepad++ for TeX/ConTeXt and have some questions;
I am not much of a programmer so please be patient if I appear clueless
at times:
1) In ConTeXt we have very frequent (a la xml) constructs like
\starttext
:
\stoptext
How do I get N++ to recognize these. It seems that N++ recognizes them without
the backslash but not with the backslash.
2) Double-clicking a backslash-command (eg \starttext) selects the text of the
command (starttext) but not the entire command. Can this be configured?
3) ConTeXt commands enclose their options inside of square brackets []. Can
I define a list of option-keywords that will take on a certain color when
typeset
within a [] environment?
4) I could not find an xml file for the TeX-language setup; is it hardwired?
I'm sure I'll have plenty of other questions soon.

I've written a new Notepad++ plugin that completes xhtml / html tags like in
recent versions of Dreamweaver. I'm looking for people to test it before I
release it.
If you have the following text :

then it will end off the div tag, then typing </ once again will close off
the body tag as shown.

I find it useful, especially when working deep inside structures. If you'd
