Version tested: 4.1.2
Platform: XP SP2
File: PHP, 881K, over shared network drive

When using rather large PHP-code files (in this case, 881K, containing 327
functions)
N++ gets too slow to work with. When typing an IF statement, it takes N++ about
6 seconds to grey out the underlying text after typing the first ", and another
6 seconds to colorize it after typing the closing ". This is only an example,
about everything is *very* slow when working with large code files.

What's going wrong? Edit+ works with the same file without any problems but
I'd like to use N++...

Regards,
Hidde

It's a solution.
The thing bothers me is to write a log file on each launch time.

I'll consider it if there's no better solution.

Notepad++ already knows how treat xml.
We can collapse elements and it does some highlighting etc.

There are certain files like xsd and wsdl which are xml files with different
extensions.
Is it possible to add them so that same rendering is applied to these files
also.

Hello Notepad++ users...

I posted an initial alpha release of the DBGP Client plugin on the Notepad++
Plugins project page.
This is aimed at those who love to code PHP in N++ and would like to debug the
code from within the editor.

Read more on the plugins project page and the readme.
Happy debugging.

You can associate file extensions with the language of your preference.

Or you all could just use a third party tool in conjunction with N++ like
NetDrive
or WebDrive (both can be found for free if you google a little bit). That way,
ANY program can use your FTP server as a local drive.

But if the default comment formatting was the same as the rest of the code,
but differnte color, no one would have to change it. It would work just fine

Why not put a default file type (like .txt) in preferences and have it be put
in as the Save File as box? Or let people choose their 10 most used file
extensions
(in preferences) and then pick one. I can't believe that many people would use
more than that many file types. Or, you could probably go to 20. This is off
the top of my head and is a first impression. I'll think about it more
and repost.

Bob

I like this thread, it's very funny.
But it's hard to realize whether some comments are jokes or not.

My big problem is that most of the highlighting for .tex files turns off when
you open a second file in another language (e.g. Matlab, C, etc). I have to
close and re-open notepad++ to get the highlighting back again. Notepad++ would
make a great LaTeX editor, but bugs with the highlighting seriously limit its
usefulness.
