I haven't run Notepad++ from USB, but there is an installation option: "Don't
use %APPDATA%". It stores the shortcuts.xml file in the Notepad++ installation
directory. I would expect your USB version to use either this directory or
one on the USB memory stick. --Joel

I'd like this as well. As a workaround, I put the current file name in the
"Filters:" mask on the "Find in Files" tab. --Joel

No, not for everyone, as it requires disabled UAC for me, even after several
new installs!

Your _firewall_? And moving a dockable window should not "record" keystrokes.
Sounds like something is broken, or maybe your PC has a problem with some
external
monitoring application.
If that happened to me, I'd suspect a keylogger or other malware... --Joel

This might work: Turn off "File Status Auto-detection" by unchecking the
"Enable"
checkbox on the MISC tab of the Preferences dialog. --Joel

Or maybe just add a "current file" to the "Filters:" dropdown list as a quick

Doesn't the "Vertical Edge Setting" stuff on the "Edit Components" tab of the

You might need to set "isMaximized" to "no" in config.xml in either
%APPDATA%\Notepad++\ or the Notepad++ installation directory. You might also
need to edit config.xml outside of Notepad++, since Notepad++ will likely
overwrite
config.xml when you close it. --Joel

It's likely a quirk. The highlighting is likely applied to complete "tokens"
found between delimiters like whitespace. If no ending delimiter, no token.
Maybe the physical end-of-file can be considered a default delimiter... --Joel

You can use a macro for this.
To define it, first select some text. Press the record button. Press ctrl-x
"<strong>" ctrl-v "</strong>". (This cuts the text, types the opening HTML
tag, pastes the original text back, and types the closing HTML tag. Don't type
the quotes!) Press the stop-recording button.
Now you can select text and play back the macro. You can save the macro. Give
it a name and assign a hotkey to it. You may not be able to assign it to ctrl-B
when you save it, but you might be able to then use the Shortcut Mapper dialog
to change it to ctrl-B. --Joel

With Notepad++ version 4.1.2, I can get the Notepad++ window to come to the
front when the Find dialog is up and focus is on another application, by
clicking
on the Notepad++ taskbar button three times. --Joel
